Apamea

It was one of the main Greek cities of the Seleucid Empire . It was founded in the 3rd century B.C by SeIeuces Necator who inherited Syria as one of the four parts of the immense Empire which were divided among the Generals of Alexander.
Places to visit: The larfe ruins of Apamea (restored in the second century); the Madik citadel; the Byzantine parts of the 5th century are lying outside city walls; the Ottoman Mosque; the Mosaic museum of Apamea located in the splendid Ottoman Khan.
